In-Person Tax Preparation

Thanks to our partnership with the IRS, each year Greater Longview United Way assists hundreds of low-income families with free tax preparation through our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, these necessary services will still be provided in person. If we have assisted you or your family in the past, please be aware that there have been a few changes. 

  • Appointments will now be required. 

  • The VITA site has moved to a new location in the Longview Child Development Center Building at 1230 S High St.

  • Please review the new guidelines and the list of required documents below to make sure that your appointment goes as smoothly as possible.

  • If you are unable to follow the in-person appointment guidelines below, there is a drop-off service available for your convenience.

Site Guidelines
  • SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

  • There will not be a waiting area available inside the site. You will need to wait outside in your vehicle. 

  • If you are experiencing any of these symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, new loss of taste or smell, chills, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, please DO NOT come to the site. 

  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or flu within 14 days, please DO NOT come to the site.

  • Your temperature will be taken at the site. If you have a fever, access will be denied. 

  • Wearing a mask properly will be required at all times, inside and outside the building. 

  • Minors or companions who do not have to file a tax return will not be allowed in the building.

  • You must have a working phone with you.

  • Be sure to bring all required documents to your appointment.

  • Do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your appointment.

  • Please note that if you are over 15 minutes late for your appointment or you do not have all of your required tax documents, the appointment will be cancelled and you will have to reschedule.

Required Tax Documents
  • Copy of Social Security Cards for all individuals on the tax return

  • Copy of a Photo ID of the taxpayer(s)

  • All income documents (W-2, 1099, etc.)

  • Form 1098T (if claiming college expenses)

  • Total paid to daycare provider and daycare provider's tax identifying number (such as their Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number)

  • Forms 1095-A, B, or C (for Health Insurance)

  • Economic Impact Payment (Stimulus Check) Notice 1444A and 1444B (if applicable)

  • Business expenses (if applicable)

  • Receipts from charitable donations (if applicable)

  • Bank routing number and account number (if you would like to receive a direct deposit)

The new VITA location can be found in the Longview Child Development Center building located at 1230 S High St Longview, TX 75602.

Appointments will be available from January 19th - April 15th.

Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays 

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Saturdays 

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Super Saturday (Extended Hours) - February 6th 

9:00 am - 3:30 pm
